Frequently Asked Questions
What is coffee?
The Webster's Dictionary defines coffee as:
a: a beverage made by percolation, infusion, or decoction from the roasted and ground seeds of a coffee plant
b: any of several Old World tropical plants (genus Coffea and especially C. arabica and C. canephora) of the madder family that are widely cultivated in warm regions for their seeds from which coffee is prepared

What is the difference between Arabica and Robusta?
Taste:
The taste profile of the Robusta bean is generally described as "burnt tires or rubbery". One of the reasons is because Robusta has more caffeine, which carries a bitter taste.Arabica has 60% more lipids and almost twice the concentration of sugar. This is the factor that has the biggest impact on why Arabica is preferred.
Physical attributes:Arabica plants grow between 2.5-4.5 meters, while Robusta reach a height of 4.5-6 meters. Robusta beans are much more circular, whereas Arabica are more oval.

We recommend storing your coffee, whole bean, in an air tight container, out of the sunlight. Avoid freezing or refrigeration if possible. If you do freeze or refrigerate, remember to let the coffee come to room temperature before you attempt to brew.
How much coffee should I use when I brew at home?
The standard brewing dosage is to use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6 fluid ounces of water. This is a good place to start and then you can play scientist and find the right amount that meets your personal preference.
What happened to that coffee I love?
As awesome as coffee is, it is still just a crop and it can not always be available year round or year to year. Our blends are the most constant offerings. We do have some coffee varietals that will almost always be available and every once in a while we like to grab some bags of something else to mix it up. Those coffees will only be available for a limited time.
